SPECIAL INVITATION TO THE OPENING OF THE IAS-UNN 2024 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION
The University Community is cordially invited to the opening ceremonies of the 2024 IAS-UNN International Conference and Exhibition scheduled for 18th – 20th July.
Conference Opening: Thursday 18th July, 2024; Niger Hall, CEC, University of Nigeria, Nsukka; 11:00 am prompt
Exhibition Opening: Thursday 18th July, 2024; Freedom Square, University of Nigeria, Nsukka; 5:00 pm
The conference is organized in collaboration with the Pearson Institute for the Study and Resolution of Conflict, University of Chicago, The Transatlantic Research group, and the Whelan Research Academy for Religion, Culture and Society, Owerri, Imo State on the theme Continuity and Change: Rethinking African-European Encounters.
An exhibition of contemporary installation art by Samuel Nnorom (entitled Temporary Havens: Chronicles of the Displaced) is also scheduled to open at the Freedom Square as a visual articulation of one of the conference themes.
While our Keynote Paper will be delivered by Prof. Christopher Ogbogbo (Department of History, University of Ibadan; Director, Army Resource Centre, Abuja) on ”Continuity and Change: Rethinking African-European Encounters”, the Lead Papers will be given by Professor Ndu Life Njoku (Imo State University, Owerri) on “The Economic DNA of Colonialism: Unpacking the Continuity of Exploitative Systems in Postcolonial Africa” and Professor Chidi G. Osuagwu (Whelan Research Academy, Owerri, Imo State) on “Worldviews and Thoth’s Prophesy on West Eurasian Destruction of African Civilization and Subsequent Renascence”.
